Under The Stars

Pitter-Patter, horseshoes echo
while prancing dark street
in buggy,
escorting two lovers kissing.

A Lonely Soldier's Lullaby

The illuminated sky became obscured
when night had fallen.
The lonely soldier hid in darkness
in a misty hole of dirt
where his frightened voice lingered on.
"Free me from this misery,
his buddy heard him calling."
Every night after gray clouds rolled by,
the lonely soldier
sang his humble lullaby.
But, no one could see
the tears in his eyes
when the soldier began to cry.
Once a happy man was he,
just like you,
and just like me.
A man who had a life before Vietnam
with a wife, a child, and a happy family.
Now, crouched down
in a black hole of silence
where his family and friends from home
can't see the tears on his face,
or the rags he wears for clothes.
No one could feel his pain
from wounds that made scars
every night when he hides from the enemy,
while he cries a lonely soldier's lullaby.

The Vietnam War Began 3/2/1965

This Poem "A Lonely Soldier's Lullaby" Was written in 1998, in Memory of All those
who Served in the Vietnam War. I wrote it After working as a Student Nurse in the
Veterans Hospital in Northport, Long Island, New york. In 1995, After I began a
writing career, Poetry was my first craving. I had a burning desire to tell the World
about the Era of the 60s---especially 1968--The year that Rocked America!
This Poem is dedicated to my Classmates of 1968. Prior to Reuniting with my Class
of 1968 for my 30 year class Reunion. The Memories of this era & what the Babyboomers
were forced to face encouraged me to Dedicate Poems to the world--in the USA &
International. This is for Brentwood High School--Class of 1968--Long Island, New York.
This is for ALL Those who served in the Vietnam War, all those who gave their lives,
and for the families who suffered a loss. I intend to keep a Special Candle burning
in Memory for our American soldiers, their families, and the affects upon All babyboomers
of the 10 year war--Vietnam!

Candle In The Wind

There's an eternal flame of love
for Princess Diana,
a love that I can see.
A fire felt by the young, and old.
A burning fire
from affection deep within our souls.
Her tragedy crossed our path,
but a radiant feeling
in our hearts will forever last.
We must take time to see
that keepers of the flame
is what we must be.
She's a true legend who will outlive
the last fading light of the universe.
A lovely rose
who wanted so much to grow,
with enough radiance
to steel the show.
One single rose of beauty,
no other flower could compare.
A special woman
who showed the world how much she cared.
We should not forget Princess Diana,
especially since we've drifted apart.
The eternal flame of love
began at midnight,
a flame that will never burn out,
and will always remain in our hearts.

~TO MY POETIC FRIENDS~

I need to say something special
to each and every poetic friend,
before it slips my mind.
Each and everyone of you
is a jewel
in life's sparkling crown,
a rare and precious find.
Although our lives and homes
may change
as we grow from young to old.
I predict
that our friendship will never die,
for it shines like pure gold.
Never feel that you are all alone
on life's endless sea.
No mater what the years may bring,
you'll always find a friend in me.
Your poetic words are sweet, warm, and dear.
Words that tell me what is in your heart
when we share a laugh, a cry, and a dream.
Words that mean so much,
even though we are many miles apart.
I may never see an angel near
on sad and lonely days
to be my guardian light,
to lift my soul,
and help along the way.
But, I'm sure God hears our prayers
as he sends through heaven's door
someone who believes in us,
and that's what friends are for...
